Once we got parked you know we had to look for the visitor center! It was actually under construction, which I thought was really amusing, but then noticed they moved it while they worked on it! Went in and not much going on there, again another bust visitor center. But this place was actually well organized and you could find the things you needed to see. This place had some amazing views! This is also the home of the Cabrillo National Monument.
We hiked the Bayside Trail. Along the trail there were many great views. I only wish it wasn't an out and in hike but it was still good! Not going to lie I was pooped!
We then went and checked out the tide pools.
Our next task was to see the midway museum. So we drive over there and wow were there lots of people out today. So task one where to park! We drive into this public parking place, but couldn't really figure out where to pay or how to pay or what was going on. It seemed like none of the other people could figure it out either. Dad said lets just eat our lunch and then figure this out. So we had our lunch in the car and watched these people try to figure this out. We decided to just move on and try to find a better parking place! The midway parking was was full of course, just my luck! Move on to the next lot and its is just two hour parking which we can't even scrounge up enough quarters to make two hours! And they just don't think 2 hours is enough, so lets go search for another place. After much confusion and driving around; I am done we are going home!
So that was that we went home! Tomorrow's adventure is.....
If you've been to the Lady Lex in Corpus, the Midway is very similar. I did enjoy the The Greatest Generation Walk alongside the Midway with the Bob Hope and other statues (and Janice would like that it's free!) And Steve would like that you're walking... It's flat but there's a lot to see along that part of downtown from the WW II stuff up to the Maritime Museum as well as lots of tacky souvenir shops and such. You'll have to look for parking another day...with lots of quarters! Lots of parking lots near the Manchester Hyatt.
