We started off at Torrey Pines State Park. Just stepping out of the car it was a beautiful sight. The water was awesome and not to mention the weather! So great to be able to walk more than 2 feet without breaking a sweat! Anyway, Torrey Pines was really fun. There were many different trails to hike onto with different views of the ocean. Dad got his wish hiking, with gorgeous views of water! We walked and walked around the different trails until we couldn't go anymore. Of course, we had to wait around for mom and Geoff bringing up the rear. Ok, Geoff was taking pictures something he really loves doing. And I'm not going to lie; he really does a good job and takes some cool pictures! And I'm not just saying that because I know Geoff will probably read this at some point.
On our way back to the car, we passed the visitor center, which we didn't go back to, much to mom's advice. For some reason she loves visitor centers! Every time we pass one, hmm we should go there or if Vance was here, he would go there. Thanks Vance for her visitor center obsession. Anyway, point is I guess we should start going because we just sit and contemplate where to next. They wanted poor Geoff to drive up this crazy road to go back. I quickly busted out my phone trying to find our next stop. But Geoff my knight in shining armor, came up with Seaport Village. We needed a place to wonder around and have our lunch. So off to our next stop. This was a cute place with little shops and things. We walked around in search for dad a beer, because he really needed one at this moment, and you know it is Father's Day! Finally found beer and a nice area to have lunch. It was again (I know I said it) nice to sit outside and not be drenched in sweat and have our lunch. Definitely couldn't do that in Corpus! After lunch we went shopping! They had cute stores from beach clothes, sandals, hot stuff, t shirts, magnets, hats, and other souvenirs.
Dad's day and he still wasn't done. I, of course, was ready for a brewery, but nope its dad's day! Geoff drove us out to Coronado Island. This is a really pretty part of San Diego. They wanted to see the Hotel Del Coronado. Let me tell you this island is crazy busy!! If you want to park, Good LUCK! But again Geoff found us a spot on some street and we walked down the sidewalk by the beach. You better watch out for 3 and 4 wheel bikes on this path! We sure look classy in our hiking clothes walking on the beach! We walked around to the front of the hotel and checked out the beauty of this place.
After this we figured we had drug Geoff to enough walking and sun, since he had to go to work the next day, but the parentals weren't done yet! They wanted to go grocery shopping for dinner. I know Geoff was excited about this! But he is a trooper and took us to the Commissary to get some food. Not going to lie grocery shopping is my favorite thing to do, but I was pooped and dehydrated! So off to shop. What to buy is the question?! I'm like I figured y'all had a plan!! I don't care I'll eat anything! Finally after much deliberation, we got what we needed and got out of there!
All in all a great day of hiking and sight seeing. Father's Day was a success! I have to thank my awesome husband for showing us around! He's pretty patient with us, even me in my crazy times!
That's all for now... More to see next time!
We probably hiked your same Torrey Pines' hike when we were there in March. Course we started from the lobby and had a guide and hey, visitor's centers are frequently informative!!! Don't be dissing Visitor's Centers!
