Oktoberfest La Mesa

Well this week was spent reading, cooking, cleaning, pool time, grocery shopping, and eating.  I decided to break up all the cleaning into projects each day.  Three floors of stairs is killer on the legs.  I think I need to have 3 of every cleaner, so I don't have to keep walking back up and down when I forget something.  It was entertaining though and it got done!  On Wednesday evening, we went to El Cajon to have pizza and drinks with some people Geoff works with.  This place had just opened and had some terrible service, but I'm not one to complain about service.  Doesn't bother me if you bring me enough water and beer; I'm fine!  They had some strange pizza toppings.  We had one with mashed potatoes and bacon and another one with  chicken BBQ.  The chicken BBQ defiantly my favorite!  The garage door broke on Thursday, so they sent someone Friday to fix the door.  The man was like this is the worst garage door opener ever made!  So, they are putting another one in next Friday.  He was like can you live like this that long.  Me, do I have a choice!?  I said I'm sure my husband will be more inconvenienced than I will!  Oh well, at least we will get it fixed and have a better door opener.  My dessert for the week was Carmelitas.  They were amazing!  The only problem is I want to eat them all!! They have caramel, oatmeal and chocolate chips; can't get much better than that!
This weekend, we decided to try out one of the Oktoberfest events.  I have been noticing a lot of them going on, but one in La Mesa sounded like it was the best one.  They had little booths set up all along the streets.  As we walked the street, I'm looking at the shops that are always there, thinking this place would be cool even without this event happening.  It kind of reminded us a little of a Fredricksburg kind of town.  Shops, winery, restaurants, and bars...  Pretty neat place.  There was so much stuff there.  I was getting warm, so decided to go into a bar for some AC and a drink to cool down.  Pretty neat bar.  We thought of Geoff's mom, with all the cigar boxes they had on the wall (she collects them).  There was some obnoxiously loud lady in this place and it was driving Geoff crazy!  It was a small place, so her loudness was pretty unbearable!  We finished our drink then went out for more looking around.  Along with a kids corner, beer garden, booths selling anything you could imagine, they had food trucks.  Food selection wasn't too good, but we found a Philly Cheesesteak place and were satisfied.  We went to check out the Beer Garden, but decided bar hopping was way better.  I kept seeing all the football scores and getting angrier and angrier since A&M had lost.  If we could have just won; we would have had a chance at being in the top 3 after every other team had lost!!  Crazy Saturday in College Football!  After our Oktoberfest experience, we had to have some ice cream!!  Cold Stone was calling our names!  Perfect ending to a great night.
Still may have to try this town out again.  Seemed like my kind of place to go!  :)
So in a park they had a little fitness center.  They had a leg press, stationary bikes, and arm press.  Pretty cool; you would lift you weight.  When I pushed this up, I was pushing myself up!  Clever!!
