Two funnies from Friday night, well I thought they were.
1. I told Geoff something about tenny shoes, and he actually asked me if I knew they were really called tennis shoes! I was like did you really think i thought they were really called tenny shoes lol! Love him Apparently, I'm not as sophisticated as him!
2. I told Geoff we should get this blanket and make Smitty a "pallet" on the floor. He could not figure out what in the world I was talking about. I'm like we used to make pallets all the time on the floor!! He told me he grew up in a house and didn't need a pallet on the floor! My bad! Geoff, "the only pallet I know is a wood pallet!"
Fourth of July
We wanted to check out some fireworks, so we decided to ride the trolley downtown. On the 4th, you get to have a friend ride free on one pass. So, Geoff asked if we were friends! I wasn't too sure, but if I got to ride for free, I guess I would be his friend! There actually were trolley police all over the trolleys this time. The last time no one ever checked our ticket, so we wondered if we could just get on and no one would know, but this time you would get caught.
We took the trolley to Old Town first. This place was pretty cool. I wish we would of had more time to explore this area, but we were wanting to eat and get back for fireworks. We did walk through a few shops. There were many museums. I figure if mom ever comes back she would like this place, but of course we would have to check out the visitor center!
We stopped into a little place and had a few beers. They had a sign $2 mugs of Coors Light; YES PLEASE! There was one lady working there, which she was pretty slow, so we decided to order two at a time! We then went to a Mexican food place. This was my first experience in California eating Mexican food. It was a little different, but it was a good experience. And no Kara, they didn't serve us tortillas with our meal... so I can't tell you if they were homemade! Wasn't too bad though, I cleared my plate pretty quickly!
We went down to San Diego Bay to check out some fireworks. There were people everywhere!! Geoff thought that going up on the parking garage of the Hilton would be a cool place to watch. Some other people had that idea also, but it wasn't too crowded and we had a great view. On the bay, they had four locations of fireworks going off simultaneously. Really awesome! Don't think pictures really capture how awesome it was, but I took some anyway.
After the fireworks were done, we raced down so we could try to get to the trolley. We made it in perfect time! We were able to hop on without any wait time. There was however some interesting people on this trolley! We have found the the blue line, which we have to take to get to Chula Vista, always has an interesting crowd. Geoff was not entertained but the drunk guys talking to us about weed!
It sure was a good 4th of July in San Diego!
Great vantage point for the fireworks!
