Monday's Basketball Game
I had the opportunity yesterday to go see one of my players from Flour Bluff play in a AAU basketball tournament in El Cajon. It was so nice to get to see her. Felt so good to be in a gym again, even though there was no air conditioner and it was extremely hot!! It was one of the craziest games I've ever been too. There were 6 technical fouls given to her team, and the coach got kicked out! She wasn't even bad! I probably wouldn't have made it 2 minutes with those refs!! I'm glad I had the opportunity to see her play and have a fun outing for that day. I did, however, forget how to get back to my car!! This college campus all looked the same, so had a hard time remembering where my car was! Eventually, after much walking and asking some lady, I figured it out.

We Made it Through Year One
I can't believe it has been one year since the day we said "I Do"! Seems like so much has happened in our lives in the past twelve months. Some good, some not, but wouldn't want to go through it with anyone else. So glad I found Geoff to share in all life brings. We had a great weekend, spending time together and just enjoying each others company.
Geoff had a test to take Saturday afternoon, so we took it easy on Friday. On Saturday, Geoff was polishing his skills for his test, cause "Dicks Don't Fail"!!! He wanted a break, so we walked up the highest mountain near our house. Geoff had ran up this thing last week. I don't understand how one runs up this thing, it isn't easy. Once we got to the top you could see a long way, but it was a little hazy. Geoff said the view was better before, he could see downtown and the ocean. Guess I'll have to try it again to see that! Geoff left to take his test and I made him a cookie cake for our anniversary. The recipe called for a 12 inch cast iron skillet, but I had a 8 inch, so it ended up being a little thick! Still yummy, but needed some milk after eating!! I wanted to write Happy Anniversary on top, but was too lazy to go get icing, so settled for putting a 1 with M&M's. I started putting them on there and ended up with lots of blue and orange, so just made them all blue and orange. Go Gators!! Figured Geoff would like that!! We ended up calling it cookie pie!! Geoff got home and we ate pie and played cards. We are such nerds. We played 31, War, and Slap Jack. Geoff really got into slap jack!! I wish I could have videoed his technique!! It was hilarious; I was a little scared to try to slap any cards with him. Needless to say, he won!
Sunday, was our Anniversary. We got up and went to the 8:30 church service. Pretty weird when we walked out it started to rain some. Doesn't happen much here; sun was shinning, but dripping rain. After church, we, or more like I wanted to, take a picture for our anniversary. So, we went to Centennial Park on Coronado Island to try to get a picture. We took the tripod and camera and Geoff worked his magic! He did a great job for having to be in the picture!! After that it was off to have lunch in Little Italy. We went to Ballast Point Tasting Room and Restaurant to have some beers and food. I ordered a beer and wasn't my favorite, but the good man that Geoff is he said here have mine! True love to give up your good beer for my not so good beer!! LOL Good beer, good food, and great company, couldn't ask for a better time.
We got to have our cake topper, which I was excited about! I love cake!!!!! My dad was nice enough to vacuum pack the cake. It was serious; in two vacuum bags! Lol! The cake had traveled the long journey from Texas in dry ice, and was still very tasty!!! Can't wait to finish it off!!
We had a really good Anniversary weekend with each other. So happy to have found the man of my dreams. I am so blessed to have found Geoff. I know I'm not the easiest person to live with, but he stands by me. My Granny Irene told him, I bet it was a hard year for you! Come on I'm not that bad!! He is a special man and I'm lucky to have him in my life. Can't wait for many, many more years together.
I sit here and write this blog and eat a piece of cake at 9am (cause its so yummy) and have my coffee; I can't help but think today is the first day coaches are going back to work back home. Kind of miss having a place to have go each morning. Kind of a reason to wake up each day. As much as sometimes you really don't like to go to work; it is kind of nice. Mostly, I think its just the people and relationships formed at work I miss... I don't know. I guess I will find my place here, but for now I'll just be here for my husband. And Jacque sorry it sounds depressing for a few sentences, I'm okay! :)

Surprise House Guest
Tuesday evening I received a text message with Kara's name on a boarding pass for a flight to San Diego! I was a little confused on what was going on, so I asked Geoff and he told me Kara and Ki were coming to visit! My first reaction was I need to get some milk; why didn't she give me at least an afternoon of warning to prepare!! But I was very excited, shocked, happy, pumped up, and knew that she wouldn't be too hard to please and if we needed something, we could pick up in the morning. Her flight was delayed, so she got in pretty late, so we spent the night catching up.
Wednesday morning, I had to go to the HR office to fill out some paperwork for substitute teaching, so we got a late start. We decided to drive out to Coronado Island and check out NAS North Island, Hotel del Coronado, and the rest of the island. We then drove downtown to the Gaslamp Quarter looking for food and souvenirs. Of course, we rode around a long time downtown looking for the parking garage I like. I am the worst with directions; which Kara found out very quickly! My copilot finally kicked it into gear and we found the garage. We shopped around and found a place to have some lunch. We walked around the Embarcadero to see the water and boats. We then headed back home to meet Geoff after work, so we could make dinner and hang out. We stayed up incredibly to long talking and having fun.
The next day, after both of us finished our runs, we decided to go to Point Loma to Cabrillo National Monument. While Kara ran, me and Ki were entertained by Smitty and her tricks! We were able to do some hiking and look at some great views. We tried to get a good picture of the three of us, but apparently people aren't real sure how to take pictures with an IPhone. We had one that had their finger in the way of the picture, one that didn't push the button, one that took as we weren't even looking, and one that pushed the button a million times. Oh well, we tried! We then went home to go to the pool, so we could wear Ki out. We went to Bevmo to buy some different beer Kara's brother said to try, so we had some drinks and cooked some dinner. We did have to stop for some cheesecake at Cheesecake Factory!!! Kara went in and came out with 4 different kinds. We sure did eat four! We were miserably full, but the cheesecake was worth it!! And yet again, stayed up way too long sharing conversation. We even got to watch 24 together just like old times. We used to have Bauer Hour during our lunch time, so it was good to get to be in the same room again!
Friday, we both went for our runs. Ki and I couldn't find Smitty to entertain us, so we settled for walking and some park time. We could never decide what we really wanted to do this day, so we settled for hiking around the mountains near where we live. I told Kara it would be a short walk and ended up taking over two hours. We were in need of water by the time we got back home. We hung out around the house the rest of the day. Geoff picked up some Oggie's Pizza for dinner. It was interesting trying to settle on what to do for dinner!! Both me and Kara are the same way, whatever you want to do.... I really didn't want to get dressed, but wanted to take Kara to eat somewhere to experience some place not in Texas. We settled on pizza from a place Texas doesn't have! LOL!
It was a really good surprise to get to see Kara and am so grateful for her. We have only known each other for a short period of time, but seems like forever, like sisters. We had a great time talking, laughing, eating, roaming around, driving, and just chilling. Never a dull moment with us. A bi shout out to her husband for taking care of the twins while she was gone. I know that was hard work, but really appreciate it Brodie! Thanks Kara for the wonderful surprise!!

Always looking for a deal.
I haven't posted in awhile, so decided I should write a little something. Have been taking it easy, relaxing. Geoff and I have found our new favorite place to go to the movies, so we have been checking out some movies and eating of course! There's a movie theater close by that charges $5.50 all day, everyday, but only if you have their card. Which brings up an interesting topic. These cards for every place has become crazy! I used to just have my CVS card on my key chain, but now seems like every place you go you need their card to get a discount. Now these cards are free, so whats the big deal!! I have found that the grocery store one is pretty cool. Not only do you get the "club price", which is usually way cheaper, but you can go to the website and clip coupons and when you swipe the card it automatically takes off the coupons you clipped. Just wish you could get the prices without having to carry a million cards around with you.
I try to get to the commissary once a week because they have some good prices. Now I love to roam around the store aimlessly, but apparently at this place everyone is in a hurry and has carts filled to the brim and some have two carts! So, as I am just wondering down aisle by aisle, I have all these crazy people talking shit as they go around me! Of course, I throw out interesting remarks to them to make life a little more exciting! My favorite part about going to the base is the Package Store. See in California they charge you a CRV on each can or bottle. Which is dumb, but whatever. So at the base I can buy beer and not only pay no tax, but no CRV either! So the other day, I got 30 Coors Lights for 17.99, but there was a 2$ in store coupon, so paid 15.99 and was out the door; not too shabby.
There is a Bevmo here, which has lots of beer and wine. We went there, with our club card in hand, and found a great deal there! They were running a special on some wine, where you buy one bottle and get the next bottle for .05. So, we of course loaded up to fill our wine rack! Like a glass of red wine every now and again!
I have been addicted to Pinterest lately. Finding new recipes and trying them out has become an addiction!! It is fun to see what will actually be good, and what really isn't! I have also been addicted to anything resembling s'mores! I don't think I have every even had a real s'more, but at Pioneer Days I had some s'more rice krispy treat, and I have been trying to recreate those! I have made some interesting one and will keep trying each recipe till I find the right one!
On one of our movie days, we decided to go out to eat afterwards. We tried out a burger place with some good burgers! Ended up going to the car to a dead battery. And, of course, we had to be parked where you couldn't get to the front to jump the car. And for some reason Geoff couldn't even get the car in neutral to push it out of the spot. Some man came to help, but he had a hybrid car, so he wasn't any good to us! I guess one good thing about a BMW is the battery is in the trunk, and we were able to jump it that way. Kind of good that you can jump the car either location!!
Well that's pretty much the way I spend my weeks, cooking, shopping, movies, eating, and drinking!
On a side note, we had a little scare yesterday. My Granny Liz ended up with an infection on her foot, and had to go into the hospital. We were hoping it didn't get into the bone, so she didn't lose her foot or anything like that. She did have to get her big toe removed. We pray that they got all the infected bone. They will give her an antibiotic just to make sure the infection clears. Please keep her in your prayers; for a fast recovery.
