Ocean Beach

Had a relaxing off week with trying new recipes, movies, pool time, and exploring malls.  We ran out of s'more pie, so I had to make a dessert on the fly.  I have become addicted to having something sweet after dinner.  I didn't want to go to the store, so I pulled out Granny Irene's recipe for chip chocolate cookies.  I've never made these, but mom insisted on giving me the recipe before I left.  They sure were yummy!  We have a tradition in the Dick household of making a huge cookie with the bottom of the batter.  It is a little weird, but we enjoy the huge cookie!!

This weekend we decided to try out another area.  We drove to Ocean Beach.  This was an interesting place.  They did have a street with some bars, shops, and restaurants, so I was excited.  The weather was awesome, so it was nice to walk around the town.  It was even a little chilly for me, glad I wore jeans!  Time to break out long sleeves!!  We walked down to the beach area to check that out.  As we were walking down there I'm like those people are smoking pot on the street!!  There was a man walking by about the same time telling them to hide their shit!!  Lol!  Seemed like all I could smell as we walked the streets was weed.  At least I know where to go to get my weed fix! LOL!  We went to South Beach Bar and Grill to finish watching the Aggie game and have a few beers.  That game had me going nuts!!  I'm glad I missed part of the third quarter or I may have been going more crazy!  The restaurant had a great view from the the second floor overlooking the beach.  We ordered some fish tacos and wow were they amazing!!!  After dinner, I thought a taste of what I like about Texas was just what I needed!  We went to Dairy Queen to get a blizzard!!  It was a great ending to the night.  It just so happened to be our 14 month anniversary, so I thought I deserved a blizzard!
Now we have been to IB and OB, so next we need to try PB (Pacific Beach).  The weather is getting cooler here, and now we can open the windows and turn off the AC; kind of nice.  Some evenings we go for a short walk around the neighborhood, I will even tell Geoff I almost need my hoodie out here!  I have another free week ahead; I guess this week will be operation clean house!  What an exciting life, I know... Lol

Randomness...

Just my weekly post!  The schools around here have off for the Fall Break for the next two weeks, so I guess that means I'm off too!  So, I guess I'll stay busy with cooking and cleaning!  Okay, and maybe a little reading, pool time, and shopping.
This past week I was subbing in a class and a student walks in and is like, "ya what's up Mrs. Dick"!  I felt so bad because one of the teacher aides started yelling at him.  She was telling him that is not appropriate and you need to respect her.  I had to make the lady stop, but I still think she was confused.  I think he's the only kid that knows that's my last name.  It was pretty funny, but he doesn't call me Mrs. Dick anymore, LOL.
After, the heat all week finally Friday was back to normal cool weather.  I had some kids knocking on the door before the bell, because they were cold.  It's like you can't win; either too hot or cold!  It was only 75!!
Thursday, I made a S'mores Pie.  It was really tasty!!  I think I need to start looking for some other desserts to make besides S'more things, but I really do love them!!

This weekend we headed to Buffalo Wild Wings in order to be able to watch both Florida and Texas A&M at the same time.  Both games were on TV, but started at the same time.
Sunday Fun Day, we made our way to church to hear another guest pastor.  He did a really good job; I wouldn't mind him being there every Sunday!  After church, we decided to go pick up some sandwiches from Which Wich and go to the lake for a picnic.  Which Wich was a pretty cool place.  You would grab a bag based on what kind of sandwich you wanted.  Then you would bubble in what you wanted on the sandwich and they would make it and call your name when it was ready.  It was a nice day out, and the lake was really pretty.  Geoff took his camera to practice taking pictures!  After, lunch I really wanted to go see When the Games Stands Tall.  I had an email that said we could get buy one get one free for that movie!  I'm like okay, perfect excuse to go see.  This was an awesome movie!!  I cried for at least half of the movie!  Such an emotional movie, but truly inspiring!  I hope that one day I can inspire students the way this coach did.  He taught the players about family, becoming good young men, and inspiring them.  Very good movie!
Guess that's about it for now.  As I write these, it always seems like I forget something.  Then I'll be talking and remember oh I forgot to Blog that! Have a good week!!

Looks like dad had fun this weekend!

Not much happening

I don't have too much going on lately, but trying to make sure I get a post in every week at least!  I have been subbing most days.  I have a few regulars and a secretary that calls when there's openings or I just wait for a random job to come open on the website.  Never a dull moment in the subbing world!
Last Thursday, I had the opportunity to meet a cousin down the line of mine.  Stephanie had found me a Facebook a few years ago, but we had never met.  She would go to south Texas during the summers to visit family, so she knew my mom.  She was in town because her sister lives on a sail boat and they had stopped in San Diego!  I'm not sure I could ever live on a sailboat, but maybe for a week would be cool!  She is from north of here and made the trip to see her sister.  She got in touch with me and we met up for coffee at Starbucks.  It was fun getting to visit with her and hear all the stories of the past!!  I was glad I had the opportunity to finally meet her!!

Geoff and I had a nice weekend of relaxing and college football!  Sunday after church we had lunch at Chipotle.  My cup said "vote NO to this spelling of Geoff"!!  LOL!  Couldn't resist taking a picture of the cup!  We went for a little drive after to look at the lake.  I had run by it, but never actually seen it in the daylight.  Really cool with all the mountains.  Even saw the skydive place and saw some skydivers!  Maybe we will have to try that next!!!
It has been really hot here past few days!!  I laugh at how everyone starts crying about the temperature!  They even let some schools out early!!  Wow, we wouldn't have had many days of school in Texas!!
     Well that's all for now!

Vote "NO" to this spelling of Geoff!!!!!!!!!!!!

Imperial Beach

We decided to go explore a beach close to us; Imperial Beach.  This is supposedly the most southwesterly city.  I Googled it, so it must be true!  It was a windy day (nothing like south Texas, but close) and a little hazy out, but a nice day anyway.  We walked out along the beach, the pier, and the town.  Geoff loves walking around with me!  I like to say inappropriate things way too loud, apparently.  One day, I'm sure we will get shot.  At the end of the pier, there was a restaurant, The Tin Fish.  We decided to sit outside and have a beer. All Geoff wanted to do was get chips and salsa and a coke somewhere, but I talked him in to a cold beer!  We watched the many people fishing off the pier.  All I saw them catch were some little fish and not very many.  I don't know how they could stand out there all day for that!!  Of course, I'm sure I had many days standing not catching anything, but so very few, hard to remember!  We went and walked in the town looking for a place to eat.  Apparently, there were many places, but we finally settled on one.  We had a nice lunch then came back for some college football!  Of course, we don't have the SEC Network, so we don't actually get to watch our teams play, but oh well!

Just had to post; too cute not too!!  Miss them!!

                                                         The Beach!

Closest I could get to a stand up paddle board picture!!

No Labor, All Play

Since it's Labor Day weekend, Geoff had Friday and Monday off, so I didn't pick up any jobs either.  We had a nice long weekend together.  We had drinks, food, movies, adventure, and the realization that we HAD to spend the next 50+ years together!  Sometimes I wonder where our conversations come from, but all hilarious and sweet.
Friday, we decided to try one of the things we wanted to do while we were here; stand up paddle boarding.  We ventured out to the bay to see if we could figure this out.  The lady told us to come back at a certain time, and I was like why do we have to come back, we can't just go now!?  But she meant to be back by that time, lol.  I looked at Geoff's wrist and his watch wasn't there.  Now if you know Geoff, he has a watch fetish and always wears a watch.  Today for some reason he didn't wear one; I'm like I don't even know you!!!  Once we were in the water paddling, it was really easy.  I was nervous I would fall in the water repeatedly, but I was able to keep my balance and not splash into the water!  We paddled to a beach area and got in the water for a bit.  Water felt great; all we needed was a cold beer!  We paddled back, and yes even though we had no watch we made it back before time!! Geoff wouldn't let me take a picture of paddle boarding, so sorry to disappoint! :)
Saturday, Geoff came out with me to run some errands.  I have been wanting to make a collage wall, so he came and helped me find some frames.  I was glad to have him, because I can't make decisions alone very well!  We got it done and had fun while running around.  We then decided to go to a movie.  We went to see November Man.  We didn't know what to expect, but both enjoyed the movie.  After the movie, we decided to go find somewhere to watch the Florida game.  When we got to a place, the game was suspended due to lightning.  We waited awhile, but after a couple beers decided to head to grab food.  We decided to try out a Mexican food place close to our house, and close to my favorite place Cold Stone, Miguel's.  Place was really good.  Great chips and salsa, which is a must and they give queso!  After dinner, I was looking forward to having some Cold Stone, but Geoff was stuffed.  I'm like who is this guy I'm with!!  He always tells me he has a second stomach for ice cream!!  Have to admit I was pretty stuffed and glad we didn't have ice cream, I would have been really miserable.  I did make him promise we could go the next day!!

                                                   My Chimichanga!

Woke up got my 14 miles in before 8:30 church.  We were running really close to church time and Geoff was stressed we would be late!!  Apparently, he's very concerned with time!!  This was a very emotional church service.  This was the last Sunday Pastor Mike would preach.  He delivered an outstanding message as he turned the key back into the church.  Geoff and I really enjoyed and appreciated everything he did for us.  His sermons always were special to us and made us relate them to our lives.  We decided to try this Jump Around place one of the students at school told me about.  I, of course, read on Yelp there was a Groupon for this place.  So, I decided to purchase my first groupon ever!  We got to jump for two hours!  This place had dodge ball, basketball, trampolines, obstacle course, and other climbing things.  Ok so 2 hours is a little much!  We tried to joust, but we weren't very good!  You had to walk down this skinny little beam in order to start, which we couldn't do very well!!  We spent more time falling into the pit of foam squares, which were really hard to get out of with your socks attached.  We didn't last too long before we were beat.  We felt like we earned some ice cream!!!  We made our way to Cold Stone for our treat!  Every month we have to use a buy one get one free coupon, and today was the last day before it expired.  We had been getting it free with a gift card Kara had (she gave it to us since no Cold Stone in Corpus) finally ran out and had to pay a little this time!  Of course, we enjoyed the yummy ice cream; Geoff, of course, stressed because we parked in a 15 minute slot!!

                                                                      Sweaty!!
